Winter's Dark Heart Frenzy

In Which Four Dragons Meet By Chance, and Find Themselves at Clan Akelara
----------------------------------

It wasn't long before the invitations that Selverat had delivered were in the news at Star City. Well, in the news in regards to the Ministry of Flights and Hatchings, at least. As with all offworld Frenzies and related flights, someone had taken the written invitation, written a brief article about it, and posted it on the Ministry's servers. A frenzy for dark dragons--as in, those of the malevolent sort, not the deeply coloured kind. Now... there weren't a lot of dragons at the station that could admit to meeting the invitations standards, but a few were attracted by the notice for one reason or another.

Axys, for one, had grown amazingly quickly in the time between her hatching and her short stay at the station. Perhaps it was all of the 'Immedigrowth!' steaks that her sponsor, the peculiar Dracothrope, had given her. Maybe her kind were apt to reach adult-hood in such a short time-span normally... whatever the case, already she sense that she was beginning to feel the urge to mate. (Dracothrope had teased her that dragons her size bred like rabbits, though Axys had not been amused. In fact, she'd written a particularly moving piece about the woes of sexuality, just for that.) She'd arrived at the portal point at the same time as a number of other, much larger dragons.

Ornuth, for her part, had come out of sheer curiosity. She was a dragoness full of contridictions, and she was tough enough to handle a few rough male-folk. She'd already decided that she'd had enough of Star City, for now... a Frenzy would be an excuse to travel, and to have a liason or two on the side. Besides, if she didn't like the male that was chasing her, it wouldn't be hard to teach him a lesson. If a lesson had to be taught, and the male was never able to sire offspring again, then so much the better, in Ornuth's opinion.

With her came Oropuiivth, another native from Weyr Eriol. Unlike his countryman (woman, dragon, whatever!), had come to the meeting point simply for the fact that he'd read 'frenzy', and that was enough to get his mojo moving! He was a constant monger of the Flight and Frenzy listings... though he'd rarely managed to take any of them up for real, he had daydreams of entering them all. This frenzy was no different! So what if he had to deal with a harsh mistress? All he was after was offspring, anyways... and a little (and by a little, he meant a lot) of loving! So long as he lived to see his children hatch, he would be happy enough.

And lastly... lastly was Sateino. Well, Sateino Selamputo was his full name, though few people knew about it. Of all the dragons to show up, here, he was probably one of the least likely. He had a bond, unlike the rest, and he had a job as well. He was a loyal and polite dragon, and while he wasn't a stranger to fighting, he certainly didn't go out of his way to find conflict off the job! So it was odd that he'd shown up at the time and place the notice had mentioned, but here he was. Aottov, his bond, however, was not.

When the last of the four dragons had gathered, the aide that was waiting for them gave a welcoming bow. "Thank you for coming," she announced, her tiny voice amplified by a magic spell, "The notice did say, of course, 'first come, first served', and you four are it." Clicking her mandibles together, she glanced from Axys to Oropuiivth, from Ornuth to Sateino. "Now, if you'd please provide slips of identification, I'll be taking you to Clan Akelara. I warn you now, it may be a little chilly..."

~Hah! Chilly! You think a little cold could bother me?~ Oropuiivth demanded, literally puffing his chest. The Aide bowed again, a sign of apology and subservience, and the White-Gold preened.

Once all was said and done, the ant-anthropomorph went silent, apparently concentrating. Slowly, a portal began to appear before them. It was small at first, only enough to accomadate something as large as your average biped, but soon it grew, and eventually reached even larger then Ornuth's height, who was the largest of the group. In a slow, distracted voice, the aide called, "through the portal, please!"

As they stepped through, the change was obvious. Gone was the cool light of the station room, replaced with the darkness of winter night. The pleasant temperature dropped away suddenly, and a gust of wind surprised Axys enough to nearly bowl her over! When they looked around, they could see a high wall--probably Akelara's--a few dozen lengths away. All around them, other dragons were milling, the participants in the flight. Sateino, as he passed through the portal, cast one final glance behind him. The aide waved hastily from the other side of the portal, and then she was gone; the portal snapped shut with an audible pop, and they were 'alone' in a different realm. "Well," he said, "that's a relief."

The four dragons clumped together a little bit, despite hardly knowing one another, and surveyed the area. Well... this would be interesting, to say the least!

----------------------------------

Axys is a bondless Crystal Grey dragoness bred from Lantessama Isle. As such, she is quite short (only about 9' from paw to head!) and will be hoping for a bond of similar proportions. Her wings are build for gliding, rather then sustained flight, so she'll be more likely to either stick close to the ground, or to find some conveniently placed updrafts. Personality-wise, she's a weeping hearted gothic girl right to the bone. If she can't find a dragon that suits her, physically, she'll be looking for equally as gloomy a dragon as she is!

Ornuth is a Turquoise mutt, hatched at Weyre Eriol's Backwards Frenzy. Despite her 'small' size (small for a dragon with Old World lineage), Ornuth is one tough cookie! Any dragon that chases her had better be careful not to get on her bad side, considering that she knows more then one method of draconic self defense!

Oropuiivth is a ladies dragon, oh yeah! He knows that there's more then one way to catch a dragoness' affections, and he's bound and determined to catch 'em, all right! He'll chase anything that shows the least hint of attraction to him, and then some that don't. He... *cough* is good at what he does.

Sateino (Selamputo) is rather a gentleman, at least in comparison to many dragons that will be showing up at this frenzy. He likes a good fight and a good drink, but beyond that, he isn't a particularily malicious fellow. He'll be looking to chase a more laid-back dragoness, if at all possible.
