Crew of the Corinthian

----------------------------------

The current crew aboard the Corinthian number six, seven if you include Guardian. All of them were at one time a part of the Matrix--you won't find any native Zionites here. Each of them believe strongly that freeing others from the mind-consuming prison is very important, to one degree or another. Most of them get along well with their converted-machine companion, though there have been contentions in the past.

The Crew

Fire-Eater: Captain of the Corinthian, she is of indeterminable heritage. Of medium height and a light build, she has a commanding attitude and won't be bothered to hide her opinions. She has a good sense of humor, however, and treats her crew-members like good friends.
Outside of the matrix, her black hair is so scruffy and ill-kept that she may as well have never brushed it in her life. She dresses heavily, in thick sweaters the red befitting a Captain's rank, and dark trousers.
Inside the matrix, her hair is slicked back, her expressive blue eyes somewhat hidden by semi-opaque, half-rimmed glasses. She dresses simply, in dark comfortable pants and long-sleeved shirts, sometimes throwing over a long, black wooly trench-coat to conceal weapons. She prefers to wear skater-style shoes as opposed to heels, often with the laces dangling, untied.

Crank: Crank is looked upon by people more of a kid-sister then anything else. She can be annoying and whiny; a typical teenage, slightly spoiled girl, but she also has moments of genius-like insight. She's a very open-minded person, though a bit eccentric, and she just loves to tinker around with her appearance inside the Matrix. Her specialties lie in dexterity and balance--she can walk a swaying telephone-line like it's a side-walk, fit through cracks in walls like nobodies business... generally she can get to places others wouldn't attempt to. She knows the typical hand-to-hand combat, but is always improvising in ways that can lead to new and deadly attacks. While she isn't a prodigy, she's still very good with mechanics, and makes it a point to know the Corinthian like the back of her hand, and to keep her in good shape.
Out of the matrix, Crank has a boyish figure. Her skin is nearly translucent, it's so white, while her eyes are crystalline-blue. While she keeps her brown hair trimmed short, it isn't quite so bad as the stubble she kept it to for the first couple of years since her Awakening. She has wide lips which are often upturned in goofy smiles, and a lanky frame covered with the typical grey-brown Zion-style garb. She often gets the passed down remanents of other crew members, so is dressed even more shaggily then the rest.
Inside of the matrix is another story all together. Her is a girl who obviously can't make up her mind. Most of the time her head is half-shaved--that is, the right side of her scalp has only a stubbles worth of hair (dyed with leopard spots, checkerboard patterns, etc), while the other is thick, blue black, and shoulder-length. Other days she wears her hair short and spiky--still black, and still other days, her entire scalp is covered in a more reasonable shoulder-length bob. Her skin is just as white here as out of the matrix, looking almost as if she's applied some kind of face-paint. Black is a favorite colour of hers, as often she wears copious amounts of it on her face. Her lips and eyelids are often painted dark, and once in a while a black decal will show up under her right cheek. Her ears are extensively pierced at all times, with 3 gage plugs in her lobes, studs up the rims, and cuffs on the tops. Her wardrobe is everchanging. On some missions she likes to wear 'old-school' garb; that is, her typical fishnet n' fabric, short skirts and revealing shirts, along with platform boots. Lately, she's been displaying a more simplistic wardrobe: short shirts and shorts, slightly less platform-beridden boots, and knee-length overcoats, as well as bangles on both arms. Once in a while she'll wear actual business clothing, minus the pinstripes! This, however, isn't very often.

Guardian: By far the ships strangest member, Guardian is a seventeen-foot tall hunter-destroyer machine, converted to the human side a little over three and a half years ago. It's said that Fire-Eater was responsible for his mutiny, due to her calling in a debt to a powerful program in the matrix, though she's not talking, and neither is the machine. Guardian is the staunch defender of the Corinthian outside of the matrix, while inside, he typically watches over who ever is plugged in. He has the ability to access the matrix via the pirate-signals of ships, and can exit again so long as the signal is still broadcasting.
Outside, Guardian looks less like the arthropodic machines that freedom-fighters are used to dealing with, instead supporting himself with four legs, and possessing a head suspended from a thickly-corded neck. He has a body, rather then the sentinel-esque mass of tentacles (though he does sport those, mostly along his back and along his 'shoulder' and 'thigh' joins.) His head looks like a typical machine, with more then a dozen visual receptors, and small mandible-like structures where his 'mouth' might be. His legs are double-jointed and can split at the elbow, making conversion from an upright mode of movement to a close-to-the-ground, more spider-like mode of movement quick and efficient. He has the ability to propel himself on silent hovering units, like sentinels, but often conserves such innefficient means of travel for more favored modes of transport, like wall-climbing. Most of his body has become tarnished and rusted, and while he's capable of performing minor self-repair, improper maintenence is beginning to leave its mark all across his body.
Inside the matrix, Guardian can assume two forms. His first, and original, consists of a vaguely humanoid body. His head resembles a smaller version of a sentinel's, with three main eyes and six smaller ones, as well as the typical mandibles. His body is a frame-work of hard, white plastic-metal alloy, giving him a 'chest' and arm guards. From his back, six portals store tentacles that can snap out in the blink of an eye, all six of which are strong enough to lift a grown man. His torso is oddly vacant, supported only by a single, metal 'back-bone'. His legs are skeletal, supported by a visible hip bone, and ending in digitigrade, clamp-tipped feet. In this form, he can walk on two or four legs, though he is more suited to the former, and only gains a small amount of speed by using the latter. This is a standard fighting persona for the typical Hunter.
His second, and much preferred form, is totally human. Standing a few inches under six feet, he is a short, caucasian male with close-cropped blonde hair and murky green, calculating eyes. He tends to wear whites and greys, dressing in garments with as many belts, harnesses, pockets and straps as possible (so long as they don't interfere with movement). While he can and sometimes does pass off regular human emotions, it's more normal to see him with a faintly frowning, blank expression, made all the more un-readable by silvered, opaque glasses.

Cage: Cage is a jack of all trades, and though he hasn't had a lot of experience on a ship, he knows enough of all of the basics to be a capable freedom fighter. He can be cocky at times, especially towards girls about his age, but the good in him outweighs the bad... we hope.
He looks surprisingly fit and healthy, outside of the matrix. Aside from the typical grungy Zionite clothing, Cage is rather tall, with dark skin and darker hair. He was high cheek bones and hazel eyes, his build suggesting that he could probably grow a lot more muscle, had he a proper diet.
Inside the matrix, Cage adopts bits and pieces of his wardrobe from the old west, cowboy style. Jeans and leather chaps, boots that sometimes have spurs, bandanna's, even cowboy hats can be found on his person while plugged in. This combined with the more typical freedom-fighter garb tend to give him a peculiar, futuristic cowboy look. Here he's more muscled, as with most people, and his hair has a healthier looking, glossy sheen.

Errant: The new operator for the Corinthian, Errant is a shy man, painfully frail, and without much experience. However, he makes up for this with sheer determination, and with his skill at reading shifts in code.
Like all members of the Corinthian, Errant is a coppertop. As such, when in the matrix (and this is unusual), he's often seen wearing dark grey suits, black loafers, and the like. He's still incredibly thin, here, but he looks less like he could snap in two, and more like a lithe, business-like elf. His hair is just long enough to keep in a short ponytail, and he wears a pair of semi-circular shades.
Unplugged, he's a figurative walking skeleton, his dark blonde hair often hanging loose and stringy from his scalp. Even after bundling up, Errant doesn't look much more imposing. Perhaps he should have been given the name 'Twig'. It would certainly suit him better!

Kernel: Kernel (no, not Colonel, Kernel!) is an exuberant young man. Big boned but with little to flesh him out, he looks particularly unhealthy. However, what he lacks in physical fitness, he makes up for with his outgoing personality, not to mention his optimistic outlook on life. He's skilled with the weaponry of Zion's army, including a basic understanding of ship-weapons, and prior to his Awakening, was what many people would call a 'gun nut'. Despite all of this, around most people, Kernel acts like a friendly older brother. It's the machines that have to watch out for him!
Plugged in, Kernel looks quite massive. His skin is pale, his black hair shaved to a stubble along the sides of his head, and his dark eyes are lost in smile-wrinkles. He has a square-set jaw, wide shoulders, and, like in the real world, is rather heavy-set, packed with muscle. He tends to wear simple, no-nonsense garb: a black t-shirt and pants, shoes that grip the earth easily, and harnesses for his many weapons. Accompanying all of this, he often wears a canvas-back ball-cap, the front of which never sports the same logo or saying twice!
In the real world, Kernel lacks most of his muscle, concealing his body, instead, in layers and layers of fabric. He keeps his hair shaved, but instead of a trucker's cap, he often wears a toque.

Modicum: This young woman is a new recruit from the Vere universe. While in the real world she doesn't have a lot of experience... with much of anything, inside Vere, and even the pre-established Matrix, she displays very strong latent magical powers. Her long-range magical attacks are indespensable.
Unplugged, Modicum is an unprepossessing looking young black woman. She's a very small person, even smaller then Crank, and she has the odd ability to seem to appear out of the walls, or rather, to disappear into them. She has very short black hair and large, dark eyes, giving her a rather child-like appearance. Typically she wears the darkest clothes that she can get her hands on, no matter the size.
Within the matrix, Modicum tends to wear clothing reflective of her heritage. Black robes and gowns are her thing, giving her the look of a true mage. Her hair is longer, here, and bound tightly into braids that fall to about chin length.

Bear: (Deceased) The true mechanic aboard the ship. If it's broken, Bear will fix it. He's an inventive little bugger, able to do more with duct-tape then most could do with a full tool-kit. He has a great sense of humor, and likes to share his 'secrets' with those willing to listen... and those who aren't. Thusly, he often takes Crank and teaches her little tid-bits about everything repair-worthy.
Out of the matrix, Bear is a short man with a mixed heritage. He has dark skin, but slanted, green eyes. In any case, he has more muscled arms then Thunder and can lug amazing weights. He is entirely bald, and in baggy clothing, looks like a cheerful gnome.
In the matrix, Bear wears dark browns, leather jackets, simple cuts of clothing, and more often then not, a toque. He's a pretty good shot with a pistol, and often carries one on a thick belt.

Mercury: (Deceased) He's a grim-faced, mid-aged man whose sole purpose on the Corinthian is to help the newly freed to recover to good health. Well, that and to treat any injuries that might occur from day to day on the ship. He's a very focused man, able to put a great deal of time and effort into one person in order to help them back to health. He doesn't have a great sense of humor, but when his patients need it, he can crack the odd joke.
Outside, he has shoulder-length dreads, devoid of any decoration and tied neatly behind his back. His skin is dark, as are his eyes, and his face is deeply lined with frown-lines. He wears his shapeless clothing with more dignity then should be possible, and even looks good in the colourless greys.
Inside the matrix (which is not often), Mercury prefers to wear darker grey colours. A knee-length grey coat, grey long-sleeve shirt, grey pants... it goes on. He likes to wear semi-transparent, rounded glasses.

Swift: (Retired) an older man, Swift has seen it all. He's come into all kinds of close-calls while freeing minds, and while he's never exactly come to a stand-off against an Agent, he's had his fair share of near-fights. His skills lie in mid-sized fire-arms and hand-to-hand combat. He has an exceptional sense of direction, and has once in a while been caused to wait at an exit while his operator pulls their butt into gear.
Out of the matrix, he has patchy, dark brown hair, including a sparse goatee. His face is lined with wrinkles--most from frowns of concentration, including dark bags under his deep-brown eyes. His skin is pale, and while he is fairly largely built, he often stoops just a little.
In the matrix, he looks at least five years younger. His hair, a thick head of it now, is cut so that it's flat along the top, while the sides are gelled up to keep that straight, flat look. He always wears round, completely opaque glasses, the rest of his face modelled into a serene neutrality. He wears the usual dark colours, though unlike Fire-Eater, he prefers a little flair in his wardrobe. A high-necked trench-coat covers black tank-top and pressed black pants, while his shoes are always expensive-looking and shined right up.

Thunder: (Deceased) this man is all about the heavy weapons. As the main gunner for the Corinthian, there isn't anything this guy doesn't know about weapons. He's big, but often quiet, and has a kind of zen-like ability to shoot down great amounts of enemies in a short time. His sentinel count is currently in the hundreds, from the time he began serving aboard his current ship. He's lost count from before-hand. He and Torrent are partners, and while they make an odd-looking pair, when together they make a deadly team.
Out of the matrix he's a great burly man, with mocha-coloured skin and medium-toned, sparkling brown eyes. He keeps his somewhat faded, brown hair to a short curl. His face is rectangular, with a thick jaw but expressive mouth. While he wears the usual non-descript garb, he always wears a chrome amulet, one of a pair.
Inside, he might as well be a super-hero. His hair is bleached blonde except for two stripes along his temples (earning the nick-name Skunk from Fire-Eater), and he has a stony expression, often masked by frameless square black shades. His clothes are more straps for guns then actual material, belts and buckles everwhere. He wears a black form-fitting T-shirt and leather pants, which in turn are covered by buckle-happy army boots that end at mid-shin. A great black leather coat covers this, upon which is attached--of all things--a long, heavy red cape. When asked "Why the hell the cape?" He responds that it helps him balance when firing weapons, then shrugs and grins, "and it looks cool."

Torrent: (Deceased) Torrent is a sly woman, a silent observer who remembers all. She's a good programmer--often creating new ones as needed for newly awakened minds; and an amazing precision shooter. Get her on a rooftop fifty floors up and three-blocks off and she can pick off an important person (or an Agent) in less then five seconds. She's not very good with actual hand-to-hand combat, despite the fact that she can develop great programs for such things, and though she can do the stealth thing, she isn't the best. She does, however, work well under pressure, and when she has to, can also wield a regular pistol with great precision.
Outside the matrix, she is a wiry, medium-height woman, with an obvious Japanese heritage. She has not yet worn out of her accent, and it's not likely that she ever will. Her hair always manages to achieve a silken sheen, even when it's been through hell. She keeps it cut to a little below her chin, though straggling strands always manage to find their way into her eyes. She too wears a chrome talisman, of the same make as Thunder's. It stands out sharply against her shapeless grey clothing.
Inside the matrix, Torrent dresses suavely, with a slanted hair-cut, thin-oval shades, and dark blue clothing. Her slanted eyes--one black and one milky blue--are steely and calculating, her red lips usually pulled into a slight frown. She can give such a cold stare as to make anyone shiver, though she usually reserves these for the deserving. While she typically wears very stylized Japanese clothes--blue silk, patterned kimonos for example, these are not always practical. In such cases she will settle for a jumpsuit of similar colours, low-heeled, square-toed boots, and a long, shapely, PVC midnight blue coat. She always keeps a pistol strapped to one thigh, and more often then not a silenced, sited rifle on her back.

Tracker: (Retired) a very slim man, Tracker is as his name implies. He's a good operator, able to help his crew-members in the trickiest situations. Inside the matrix, he may as well be a ghost, for all that he can blend in with his surroundings so completely. He has the strange ability to cling to the smallest cracks and protrubences in walls and even ceilings, making surveillance his main skill. He's meagerly trained in first-aid, and though he can't remove bullets, he can set bones and help a person recover from shock.
Outside of the matrix, he is short, skinny, and with mid-toned, yellowish skin. His slightly slanted, dark eyes are larger then normal, and his nose is rather flat. He keeps his black hair cut to shoulder-length.
Inside, he looks much the same, though he'll usually tie back his hair into a neat pony-tail. He doesn't wear shades, and rarely any clothing which can billow, flap, or catch on things. He too wears dark colours--black preferably--but his shoes are non-descript (concealing small picks in the heels and toes), his pants not too loose or too tight, and his shirt simply a three-quarter sleeved, dark v-neck.
