Flight 16
(Daellanth's Flight Story)
"A fair bunch, really," Daellanth
mused suddenly to her rider, observing the male dragons that had signed up
for her flight one by one. Two bronzes, a slightly smaller who-knew-what
that she'd heard referred to as an Holographic-striped Iridescent Fog
Pseudo-Opal, and two dark coloured evil looking Hydras type creatures.
"I'm suprised your not more upset about the two Hydra's," Sydne commented in response, shuddering a little at the thought of the pair. They reminded her more of the dragons found on her original home world - wild, dangerous, and not to be trusted for a minute - and they encouraged the same facinating respect. Their anger and evilness went far beyond that of the dragons she'd grown up knowing, though - those dragons were just dangerous because they were acting on animalistic instincts to protect what was theirs. "They are worthy males, the both of them," Daellanth returned, giving the draconic version of a shrug as she hastily disposed of another of the creatures that had been provided for her to suck the blood from - on her sixth she considered a seventh for a moment, before deciding she had no need of it, then launched herself upwards. A moment later and in a flurry of wings the five dragons chasing her were in the air as well. Jasnadany quickly headed into the lead, using his smaller size and quickness to pull himself ahead of the pack. The two hydra's followed the large rare close on his heels, and the two old world dragons taking up the rear - Elkeruth because he had no wish to expend his energy yet, and Chroquanth because he wasn't too sure he wanted to be in front of those dangerous looking Hydras. Wanting to prolong the flight as long as possible, Daellanth carefully kept herself just ahead of the pack of males - and as none of them made any attempt to grab at her at first she was content to remain just flying, rather then making any real efforts at losing the males. Time passed, and they made several laps before Chroquanth dropped out of the flight. Though he'd certainly tried his hardest, the smaller bronze's stamina had finally gone. Well, there was nothing to be done about it, the lighter of the two bronzes decided as he watched the rest of the pack pull away from him. At least he'd had a good run, even if he hadn't seen as much action as he'd expected. Also tiring quickly, the large rare coloured Jasnadany made his move, reaching to grab for the Old World queen just shortly after Chroquanth dropped out of the flight. He was foiled, however, when the Queen banked sharply left - a move that she linked with a flick of her tail that effectively caught the Holographic-striped Iridescent Fog Pseudo-Opal's wingsail and ruined any chance the Dragon had of regaining his position in the flight. Resigning himself to having lost, Jasnadany followed for a minute more, then dropped out of the flight. This left the two Hydra-type beasts, Cherek and his sire Cheran'khan, and the Old World Bronze Elkeruth, all still chasing her. Deciding it was time to rid herself of yet more chasers, Daellanth employed a tactic she'd used in her previous flight and folding her wings tightly to her side she dove, and dove, and dove. Spreading her wings only just intime to stop herself hitting the flight deck floor, Daellanth quickly pushed herself upwards once more - regaining altitude before glancing behind and below her to see if she'd acchieved anything. Pleased to find that the Coal coloured Arx Atra Mons Beast Cheran, who'd been leading the three remaining males before, just barely managed to keep himself from crashing into the deck, himself. He struggled to pull himself into a more controlled flight path, but the other two dragons swooped close above--one right after the other--inadvertantly working together to thwart his attempts to regain his composure. Snapping irritably at the tails of his son and the Bronze, Cheran opted to make a landing, rather then continue chasing the underhanded Queen. He'd save his energy for a more worthy female. This left the Silver-Marked Black-Purple hydra-type-beast Cherek, and the Old World Bronze Elkeruth. The former had only just managed to catch himself in time after the Queen's stunt, while the latter had drawn up earlier in his own stoop. Elkeruth had pulled ahead only slightly, though Cherek was quick on his tail. Finding her strength failing quickly, Daellanth cast a brief look over her shoulder at the two males, then dipped slightly to the right--she barely fought as Elkeruth launched forward and descended over her, taking hold of her wingsails with quiet smug satisfaction. Cherek, she thought, would have been a fine mate - a worthy mate - just as Elkeruth was certainly going to be. High emotions of Flight or not, however, Daellanth had some respect for her rider. Sydne, Daellanth knew, would never be comfortable with either of the not-entirely-human riders. C'ton though, was entirely human, and that was good enough for her. Added to that, Daellanth was not going to abide giving birth to mutt children--no matter how splended they might have grown to be--her offspring would be purebloods and that was the end of it. She had some pride. "Arrogant," Sydne chided, just hearing her dragons thoughts,
before her focus became otherwise engaged.
