Flight 26
Lvarian Rain Havranna's Flight

----------------------------------

Havranna looked over the flight bays with a small frown. She could see her five suitors advancing, as she had called them there. It was time for her to choose, but she was in no way pleased with the turn out. Oh, sure, the dragons (and drak and kegawa, she amended) were all wonderful and quite elegant... it was the riders she was worried about. Or lack thereof.

"I've already told you, Havranna, I'll be fine." Gina murmured, putting a hand on Havranna's furred shoulder.

The Lvarian shook her head with a small growl.

"I don't even know what effect this will have on me." Gina added, "I'm not human, or anything close to it."

Havranna tossed her head, knowing that she was shamelessly showing off. Gina had helped her groom that day, though the Lvarian was hardly too old to groom herself. She had wanted to look especially well-groomed today, as today she would choose out of the five present.

"Shield me from our bond, if it will make you feel better, love." Gina smiled and grabbed Havranna's cheeks gently to force the Lvarian to look at her, "I would rather you be happy, give them a hard chase and have a beautiful clutch of younglings to rival your mother's."

Havranna shook her head.

"You listen to me, you great fuzzbutt, you will. Not. Worry. About. me." Gina growled fiercely, "You hear me? I forbid you to worry!"

Havranna jerked her head free and stared at her bond. She could feel the males growing impatient as she stared down the summative. Then she slowly, carefully and reluctantly closed their bond. She was suddenly overcome by a feeling of emptiness and she sighed.

"Only for a few hours, at most." Gina said, stroking Havranna's nose. "Make me proud." She said with a small wink.

The only bond present, named Argon, was nowhere to be seen. The deck had been cleared of all dragons, so that Havranna could have her furry males all to herself, and they were nearly bouncing with eagerness to chase after her. They were fine specimens, as she had thought before, and they would be quite a challenge to evade.

Auhato Selamputo was the first of them. He was gold, orange and white, with the wing-arms of a Hathian yet the fur of an Avengaean Fire. He had good genetics, Havranna knew, and had quite a few children already. He could even become a grandfather soon, if he was not already, if she chose the other part-Avengaean Fire.

Her second chaser was none other than Ergou Selamputo, one of Auhato's sons. He looked quite strange, without wings, yet he was furred and she was quite attracted to his strange physical qualities. He was quite the flirt, which annoyed her at times, and he often used other dragons as a way for his bond to try to get laid. But Gina would not let him do that to her. Havranna would not let Argon get anywhere near her bond.

Then there were three even stranger dragons.

One was not really a dragon, but a drak. He called himself an algae drak and his name was Tornanex. He had the characteristic fur and four wings of his species. Other than that, she did not know much about him. However, his wings intrigued her. She had always been one to be pathetically ensnared by the physical characteristics of others.

There was also a kitten dragon, covered in bright pink fur, named Delari. He had feathered wings and reminded her of her own species. He moved with the grace of a cat, tended to show affection like one; just like she did. For all that he was impossibly cute, frighteningly so at times, she quite liked him.

Last was a kegawa by the name of Vorst. Now there was an intriguing mind. He was vastly intelligent, if quiet, and fit her regulations as well. He had a mane going down his entire spine, thick fur on his lower legs and a tuft of fur at the end of his tail. Not to mention he also had interesting feathered wings.

Oh, yes, they were wonderful. In fact, Havranna had to swallow before she could speak. They were all furry and all devastatingly handsome. She did not really need to assess their mental states, as none showed any defects in that area. She was not going to be stuck with them for more than a few months and, who knew, she might come to love them. She nearly snorted at the thought, yet decided it was best not to insult her chasers before the true chase began.

Ergou, in order to participate you must promise me that your bond will stay away from my Gina. Havranna growled, spreading her wings.

He looked irritated for a brief moment before his grin appeared back on his face. He won't go near her. He said, smirking slightly, Though I can't promise the same for me and you.

The other four glared at him. Auhato looked near ready to clout him on the head with a clawed hand. Havranna would not have stopped him if he did. Though the older Wyld looked just as arrogant as his son. She probably would end up hurting both before the chase's end, especially if Auhato lived up to her expectations and Ergou continued to believe he was as suave as he thought he was.

It would be a shame if you decided to stay away. Havranna said sweetly, smiling at the wingless dragon before leaping into the air, Though you'll be hard pressed to stay close!

The others leaped into the air after her, though Ergou had no such option. Auhato took the lead of the flying chasers, though the other three crowded behind him in a mass of fur and wings. The wingless dragon teleported along below them, sometimes into the air above them and sometimes onto the flight deck walls to observe the goings on.

Havranna glanced over her shoulder at them. She was not the kind to taunt them, she was no Old World Queen, after all, but she did not intend to let them laze about behind her. She picked up her speed, forced to circle the annoyingly small space. It was nothing like the open skies, no matter what anybody said! She growled in annoyance when she was forced to turn again.

This time, Delari cut the corner to gain the lead from the larger Avengaean. He was so adorable and pink and fuzzy, she found herself crooning to him before she caught herself. She was not here to make a pet! Far from it! She shook her head in irritation with herself and forced ahead, narrowly escaping the brilliant pink dragon's swipe for her furred tail.

Then it was Tornanex's try. The drak cut the next corner, as Delari had, except his four-winged propulsion pushed him farther ahead. He even got half a length on her, and she stared in surprise. She had not expected another try so soon! She tucked her wings to her sides and rolled away, right into Vorst. She then dropped down in a dive, trying to get away from them, and found Ergou right below her. She snarled in surprise and tried to go up again, only to have Auhato right above her.

She screeched in surprise, pinned between the two Avengaeans - half-Avengaeans, at most, she ammended - and rolled with her wings spread. She caught Auhato in the side of the head with one, though Ergou dodged her lower wing. He then pounced onto her as she was belly-up. She faltered and cried in surprise as she tumbled the last few feet to the ground, with him on top of her.

Get off me! GET OFF ME! She cried, fighting back in panic. Not like this! Never like this! She had not wanted to go down like this! Not like a captive, grasped underneath a wingless - wingless - dragon, pinned and helpless. She fought against him, tooth and claw. He sported a few scratches already and was gaining more.

I won. Ergou told her, sounding hurt, though he backed away a few feet. I caught you, I won.

Havranna stood, shaking with fear. She looked around, expecting another ambush. Auhato was long gone, accepting her as caught. Tornanex had been injured when she rolled away and he was currently climbing back up towards the exits, one of his four wings moving a little stiffly. The kegawa, Vorst, was already leaving. And Delari was nowhere in sight. No more ambushes.

Havranna turned back to Ergou, bracing herself and calling her ten types of fool and twice as many types of idiot. She stepped forward, ducking her head in slight shame.

I have never seen it done this way. She told him, taking another step forward to gently - playfully - nip at his orange crest of fur, But I'm willing to try, if you will.

Ergou smirked eagerly and stepped forward. Havranna knew his rider would approach hers, but she did not care. Gina needed to do something with herself and if Ergou's rider proved to be as devious as Ergou himself... let it simply be said that neither bondmates would forget what happened in a short amount of time.
