Candidates

Candidates are not searched at Star City. Instead, Star City's Ministry of Draconic Relations will advertise current public clutches, and those interested must find their own transportation. Once at the station, a candidate may sign a Candidacy Form electronically, or in person at the Ministry. The candidate will receive a waiver that allows them to stand at hatching clutches until a dragonet bonds them, which will also allow them to receive discounts on temporary housing, meal-plans, and lessons once their bond has hatched.
1) Your candidate must be paged (try Geocities for free web-space) and easily accessible/readable to qualify as a candidate.
2) You must write a story for your candidate. This can be anywhere from a couple of paragraphs (eg. 300 words) to several pages. If you plan on writing a long story, please pay special attention to subject, plot and especially grammar and spelling, or else I may not finish reading it.
3) Your candidate-story must include how the candidate came to Star City. If your story ends before they reach the station, I will require you to write more.
4) Keep as many pets on the same page as your dragon and candidate as you like--if you think your candidate can handle twenty flitters and still bring her dragon up, then kudos to her.
5) No Reserves. I will only accept completed candidate stories.*
6) The owner of the parents of a clutch can opt in to adopt one of their offspring each, though you must ask to receive--if you don't ask, you won't get.
*While clutch-parents will receive a reserve if they ask, they still require a story! The reserve simply holds a spot open for you; if you take too long to write your story, I may withdraw your reserve so that I can hatch a clutch!
7) Send as many candidates as you like, but I expect a separate story (or chapter) for each of them unless you have good reason. (If you've read the candidate rules, please include 'burning bright' in your application form.) You will likely only receive one or two dragonets per clutch regardless, so excessive numbers of candidates may not bond.
8) Once the hatching occurs, you will be responsible for paging your dragonet images within two weeks of the pickup-date. You will get a two-day extension if you ask for one, otherwise they will be abandoned and re-adopted out.
9) Adult images will go out two weeks after the hatching--again, put your adult image up within two weeks of that or your dragon will be re-adopted out.
10) Your candidate may have bonded previously, and may bond again at another agency, but he may not be a candidate at two places at the same time!
11) Link back to Star City (http://dracothrope.lmfao.org.uk/SCD) on your character's page, please.
12) Updates on clutches can be found at the The Nexus Forums Star City Thread and on the front page. Be certain to check the Nexus forums as updates will supplement those on the front page.
13) Bonding here is 'non-traditional'. Male dragons can and will bond females, and vice-versa, unless you specifically request otherwise! Some dragons may not bond at all, and some may double bond.
14) State any preferences (colour, gender, name, clutch) you have in mind in your application form, but please be aware that I can't fulfill all requests.
15) Last but not least, let's check to see if you've read the rules the whole way through, or if you've just skimmed them. Include 'little star' in your application form.

Sponsors

Sponsors act similarly to candidates at Star City, however, a sponsor adopts a dragonet without mentally linking to it. Sponsors receive a Sponsorship Waiver, which means that they will be able to adopt dragonets that don't bond after going through a screening process. A Sponsorship Waiver does not include quite the same number of benefits as a Candidacy Waiver, though some discounts on meals and dragonet-lessons do apply.
1) Read the Candidacy Rules. Most of them apply to sponsors as well. (You need a sponsor-story and URL, for instance.)
2) Sponsors may have any number of previously sponsored dragonets, in so much as they are feasibly able to care for all of them.
3) Clutch-parents may receive a 'free' sponsorship slot if they ask for one specifically. If you don't ask for a sponsorship before the clutch closes, you won't get a dragonet.
You will still need to write a story. Parent-reserves are only to hold a spot open in the clutch. If you take too long to write that story and the clutch is otherwise full, I may bump you out so that I can hatch the clutch.
4) Representatives from other agencies (Weyrs, Nidii, etc.) will get precedence over individual sponsors, though these representatives will need a story like the rest. To be certain that you've read all off the rules, include the secret words from the candidate-rules, as well as "night sky" in your application form.
