Draconic Designs

Cyborware Installation Facility
----------------------------------

Cybernetic-biological soft and hardware, or cyborware for short, is a main component of life in Star City. Basically, cyborware is the term used to describe the modifications made to ones body that include semi-organic, semi-robotic installations. cyborware can range from the highly practical (an extra set of eye-lids to see while flying in sand-storms) to the highly cosmetic (tubes that jut from ones back and glow in various colours).

Anyone can have cyborware installed for a price, be they dragons or humanoids, though if they don't receive their 'ware from a licensed installer, they risk irreparable bodily damage. Most dragons have their cyborware installed once they reach adult-hood. In some cases, it's possible to manipulate 'ware onto or into a maturing fetus, though this can be risky.

The facility to which SCD-born dragons can go to trade their gift tokens is called Draconic Designs. The facility specializes in dragon-sized 'ware, and is on pension from the city for their services, so when you go in, you don't need to pay a thing but your token! Walking into the facility is rather like walking into a hospital crossed with a mechanic's depot, with a little bit of tattoo parlour for ambience.

Some people like to include bits of story about their dragon getting their 'ware installed, and if you are so inclined as to do the same, you can click the links below to read about the folks you might meet in the facility.

Past Requests
See what other people have done with their tokens, and maybe get ideas!

----------------------------------

Token Equivalency
1 Moderate token = 2 Minor tokens
1 Major token = 1 Moderate token and 1 Minor token = 3 Minor tokens

'Ware Restrictions
Xenodragons and part-xenodragons can only receive 'Wareless Decorations. Their acid blood prevents invasive procedures.

----------------------------------

Variable Installments
Tattoos Special inks can make a permanent tattoo on a dragon of any colour, whether the dragon is furred, scaled, skinned, or feathered ('ware tattoos are applied, believe it or not, by a special kind of laser rather than needle, and a laser can leave its mark on anything!).

Minor: Ink enough for 1-2 small tattoos (shoulder, face, forearm, etc).

Moderate: Ink enough for 1-2 limbs, or 3-5 small (Minor-class) tattoos. (Head and neck count as one 'limb', the torso counts as another, as does the tail.)

Major: Ink enough for the whole body (installer can use as little or as much ink as you want).

Please have respect for Phoenix's sanity when requesting complex designs. Also, unless you're requesting something very simple/easy to describe, it's appreciated if you include a reference picture of the tattoo you want.

Jewellery and Other 'Wareless Decorations Sometimes one has been given a token, but doesn't want to spend it on such an "invasive" or permanent a decoration as cyborware. In cases like these, installation facilities also have more standard accessories available: plain and spiked collars, bracelets, necklaces, charm/medal pendants, and arm/leg/tail/etc. bands are popular.

Generally, a Minor token can get you 1-4 of the above items.

You can request mix-and-match decorations and suggest your own ideas, too-- Phoenix will let you know if you're requesting too much for your token.

Custom Modifications Got an idea for a mod that isn't listed here? Well just like you can request customized 'wareless decorations, you can custom-request cyborware mods. As with 'wareless requests, Phoenix will let you know if your request exceeds your token(s).

----------------------------------

Minor Installments
Antennae Similar to the antennae found on deep-sea angler fish, these bobbing, glowing globes hang from very thin wires. Unlike on angler-fish, they can be attached to any part of the body. Antennae come in packs of 1 or 2.
Claw Modification Don't have claws? Want them? Have claws? Want them longer? Sharper? Retractable? Coloured? Claw modification can do just about anything!
Filigree Thin metal scrolling adhered to the skin, in multiple metal types (gold, silver, copper, etc.). Can be formed into all kinds of patterns.
Lumi-glow Pads These pads are gel-like, containing luminescant solutions. They can be grafted over one's skin. The pads come in most colours, though blue and green are the most popular. Lumi-pads come in packages of 1-6.
Lumi-wire Much like the luminescant pads, Lumi-wiring can be grafted over one's skin. Coming in just about any colour, the wiring is usually attached along arms, legs, or tails. Can be shaped into patterns.
Piercings Not really cyborware... but most installers have the facilities to pierce customers with all kinds of things, in all kinds of places. Piercings are done on a case-by-case basis when it comes to spending the entire token. 1-2 piercings can also be added to any normal order at no extra cost. Piercings also come in clip-on varieties for those acid-blooded xenos.
Spikes Just what they sound like, a person or dragon can have spikes grafted to their body. Usually attached to the forehead, shoulders, back or thighs, spikes come in everything from metallic studs, to 'natural' looking horns, to horns that glow like lumi-wire. 1-6 spikes can be purchased with one token.
Tooth Modification Ever wanted to sport a sabre-tooth look? Or have metallic teeth like a xenomorph? Or have eyeteeth that glow bright blue when you grin? Then this is the kind of mod you're after! If you can suggest it, our installers can probably do it.

----------------------------------

Moderate Installments
Ear Extensions Cyborware which specifically elongates the ear(s) (or adds a pair to those without external ears). These come in many variations, from synthetic 'elfin', to metallic extensions. These enhancements can be modelled after most forms of skin, scales, or fur. Ear Extensions come in packs of two.
NuCheveux Think permanent wigs... with a twist. Most NuCheveux hair-enhancements are very similar to bundles of fiberoptic cables in that they can emit and transmit various colours of light. Some are even programmed to shimmer in patterns-- and of course new pattern and colour updates are always accessible. Some NuCheveux comes in 'classic' (that is, very much like a present-day wig), multi-coloured packages. All packages come in various lengths.
NuPlume Fancy feathers? Then this is for you! NuPlume installments are the feathery equivalent of NuCheveux additions, and oftentimes even simpler: standard requests are for a feathery crest, or a pair of phoenix-like head- or tail-feathers.
Tail Modifications For those who have tails already, modifications come in everything from NuCheveux-style ridges of fur, to fins, to spiney elongations, as well as a number of other options. Tail Modification packages are variable-- half a tails-length to full tails-length packages are available.

----------------------------------

Major Installments
Armor Plates formed of a very strong matrix of metalliod molecules, Armor is perfect for those who are at risk from injury-- either from on the job or by the life they live. Armor comes in anything from thin, clear plates, to more showy, elegant designs. Armor sells in either Torso (head, neck, body, and tail) or Limb (front legs/back legs/all legs) packages. Gapped full-body plating can be purchased with one token, but two tokens are required for complete coverage.
Cybornetic Eyes Have failing eye-sight? Or do you just want a new shade of iris? Eye-replacements and modifications come in all varieties. From the more common, dilating pupiled eye, to the draconic, opaline eye, if you want it, it can be installed. Eyes come in packages of two.
Cybornetic Limbs Standard: The basic, utilitarian model, these limb-replacements are all metal and plastic, usually tempered to meet every-day stresses. They function as well as a regular limb, though they aren't too pretty to look at.

Synthetic: A level up from the standard model, these are covered with synthetic skin, hair, and/or hide to match that of the owner. The limb functions as well as a natural one, and can only be told apart with a good deal of inspection.

Cosmetic: Want a leg growing out of your back, or perhaps a pair of novelty wings? Cosmetic limbs are usually there only because 'they look cool', though some people have installed extra pairs of arms, etc. for work purposes. Generally, this kind of limb is very fancy, what with glowing hairs, silver-gilt muscles, floating nik-naks, and/or many other trinkets and add-ons. A cosmetic limb will function like a regular limb, given the right connections.

Upgrades: Upgrades in all models are available, increasing speed, efficiency, and the general fanciness of a limb. Add-ons, such as expandable metallic claws to the ends of fingertips (for example), are available as well.

Important Note: These mods are for story/candidate purposes only, unless you are requesting a REPLACEMENT limb. Drawing a whole new limb to a finished image is too much work for Phoenix, so you can get advanced limb-ware in-story, but cannot actually get an image update for it. Sorry. (In-story mods do not cost you your token.)

If you are requesting a replacement limb, you can replace one of the dragon's already-existing legs with a cybornetic version, a la Vetheth or Florid Chorus.

Cybornetic Tails Not necessarily a new 'limb', a tail none the less is a major extension of the spine. Tails come in all shapes, sizes, colours and teguments; some are prehensile, while others are simply for decorative purposes. Tails are sold singly.
Hoverpacks External or Internal, hoverpacks are exactly for the purpose their name implies. They allow their owners to float anywhere from a few centimeters to a few feet above the ground. Most commonly used in freight-shippers and other vehicles, smaller, more convenient hoverpacks have been created over the years for personal use. Hoverpacks are sold either singly or in pairs.
Memory Chips Small, cybernetic chips can be inserted in the brain, allowing a person more space for coherent memories. Memory chips are sold seperately, and can store up to half a petabyte.
NuPeau Very much like NuCheveux, grafted NuPeau covers its owner in a coat of fur. It has just as diverse a range of colours and lengths, ranging from the typical short pelt, to the exotic, from plain colours to light-emitting optic-wires. NuPeau comes in bolts of several metres each-- much like bolts of fabric.

Important Note: This mod is for story/candidate purposes only. Covering a finished image in fur is too much work for Phoenix, so you can give a dragon such a coat in-story, but cannot actually get an image update for it. Sorry. (In-story mods do not cost you your token.)

Telaparts Relatively 'new' to the cyborware scheme of things, a Telapart functions as a kind of mind-to-mind communication instrument, mimicking the dragon-humanoid specific telepathy of a bonding. It allows direct thoughts from one person be recieved by another. Both people must have Telaparts to send and recieve directed thoughts, though a person with a Telapart may recieve 'fuzzy' thoughts from a bonded dragon or other strong telepath.
